Mariah Carey's Low Self-Esteem & Trust Issues Cause Of Split With Nick Cannon

Mariah carey's “ongoing struggle with her low self-esteem had a huge impact towards the end of her marriage” with Nick Cannon, 33, an insider tells HollywoodLife.com EXCLUSIVELY.

“Mariah’s ongoing struggle with her low self-esteem had a huge impact towards the end of her marriage to Nick, and it was a turn-off. She just couldn’t shake it, being so serious and stressed out, worrying if Nick was cheating. Not trusting him, it all just got to be too much and it put a huge strain on the relationship,” The insider said

 “I've always had really low self-esteem, and I still do,” Mariah told People in 2008.

“She always wanted to be more famous than Nick and when his popularity rose it scared her. It threatened her,” the source explains. “She’s always battled with her self image and it took a toll of the marriage.”

Nick and Mariah have always been known for having fun together, something that initially brought them together while the 11 year age difference also took a toll on the marriage.

“What initially attracted Nick was Mariah’s fun nature but that slowly faded and it just eroded. It wasn’t like two best friends anymore,” the insider says.
