Gbemisola Saraki has decamped to APC from PDP in Kwara State. It was rumoured last month that the former senator was going to leave the party, but Kwara PDP leaders pleaded with her by releasing a statement were they asked her not to leave the party at a time they described as crucial because the presidential election was coming up and her support would be needed.
She however defected officially today in Illorin where she addressed her followers and asked them to join APC and vote for the party’s Governorship candidate and House of Assembly candidates.
Ms. Saraki says her defection was based on PDP’s marginalisation of women in the state, and accused them of not developing the State.
PDP’s youth leader, Chief Segun Olawoyin also defected to the same party today.
