An army captain who raped a house guest and then claimed she
used one of his sex toys has been jailed - but his new wife is standing by him.
Daniel Howard, 29, was jailed for seven years after carrying out the attack as
his then fiancée slept in the next room.
His victim bravely appeared in the court room and shared her
terrible ordeal. She told the Royal Army Medical Corps officer: "This will
always be part of my life, and I will have to learn to deal with it."
Howard, who married his wife last month, had denied carrying
out the attack at his flat in February last year. His barrister told the court his wife and in-laws are
standing by him, but his military career is in ruins. Continue...
He was convicted after a four-day trial in which he was
accused of inventing a "ludicrous, cold-blooded and insulting"
defence.
He had tried to claim forensic evidence found on intimate
swabs had been put there by his victim after she found a sex toy he had used.
But the judge told the disgraced soldier, of Darlington,
County Durham, there was in fact "the strongest possible evidence"
against him.
Howard forced himself upon his helpless victim, and during
the attack warned: "Don't tell my fiancée." When it was over, Howard
callously asked her: "Have you had a good time?"
The Judge who spoke further said; "In the face of
overwhelming DNA evidence to the contrary, you continued to deny this happened.
This attempt to humiliate and denigrate your victim severely exacerbated the
wrong you had already done to her.
He was then jailed for seven years. Don’t you just like how raped victims get justice in no time?
Stand by him? does that means that she support his action?
