Meet Haben Girma–The First Ever Deaf-Blind Graduate From Harvard Law School

With Haben Girma nothing is impossible to achieve. Recently, Girma became the first ever deaf-blind graduate from Harvard Law School. As if graduating from Harvard Law wasn’t enough, Girma has worked hard to achieve the highest of honors in spite of her disabilities. Girma, an Eritrean-American is an advocate for civil rights regarding people with disabilities–and she’s going to make a phenomenal lawyer.


Beyond Girma’s achievements, this go getter is a renowned speaker, even delivering the introductory remarks at the White House for the 25th Anniversary of the Americans With Disabilities Act.

We bet even President Obama was in awe of this young woman’s success and barrier smashing.


Last year, Girma also gave a TEDxBaltimore Talk about public service lawyers who practice advocacy for a variety of causes. Girma spoke about the stigma surrounding lawyers, reminding us all that not everyone can be boxed in
