41-year old Gerald, a military veteran, was one of the three officers killed by a lone gunman in Baton Rouge on July 17th. The widow kissed her husband goodbye at his funeral while families and friends watched and cried.
Just before then, she was seen holding her daughters close as she prepared to lay her husband to rest after a service at the Healing Place Church.
Mourners at the church were handed a written tribute from the slain officer's wife before the funeral, in which she expressed hope that his memory will 'bridge the gap and foster peace in the country he lived, loved and died for.'
'My blue-eyed rock was a hero,' she wrote. 'The only thing stronger than his love for the red, white and blue was his love for us,' she said. More photos below...
