Held at the Ballroom in the Goodview
Hotel Tangxia in Dongguan province, Abrahams beat Mrs Poland to clinch
the title, while Mrs America, Korea and Canada rounded out the top five.
“We are beyond excited that Candice has
taken this esteemed title, it is something that we have been working
towards since she was crowned in October last year,” says Joani Johnson,
CEO of Mrs South Africa. “We always believed that Candice would bring
the title home and it is an overwhelming moment for the entire team that
Candice has achieved her international goal.”
Abrahams was a stunner on the evening,
wowing the audience in her custom designer Werner Day evening wear. She
was also a firm favourite in the national costume category in a show
stopping number by Anel Botha, which was symbolic of South African
wildlife and an exquisite headpiece by Riana Conradie.
“What an honour to be able to bring the
Mrs World crown home to South Africa,” concludes Abrahams. “It has
always been a dream of mine to win Mrs South Africa and to represent my
country on the international stage; to be bringing home the title is
just the cherry on top of my achievements over the last year. I look
forward to making South Africa and the continent as proud as Rolene
Strauss did during reign as Miss World.”
